Haikko
Manors history is known since the year 1362 when it was owned
by the Dominican Monastery of Vyborg, Russia. It was then bought
by Jöns Olofsson and since then the house remained within
the same Stenbock family for several centuries. In 1871 Haikko
was bought by Sebastian von Etter, general who had served in the
Russian imperial army. During the von Etter period many members
of the Russian Czar family visited the Manor. One of the best
known frequent visitors is artist Albert Edelfelt. He spent 24
summers in Haikko and painted many of his famous archipelago motives
then. The
present Manor building is designed by professor, architect Armas
Lindgren. Satu and Leo Vuoristo bought the Manor in 1965 and one
year later they welcomed the first hotel guests to the completely
renovated Haikko Manor. Click
