Fernie Alpine Resort is located in the south-east corner of
the B.C. Rockies, just 3 hours from Calgary. Tucked away in
B.C.’s renowned Powder Triangle, Fernie has been ranked
#6 in North America for powder snow. With a variety of terrain
for all levels, Fernie is known for its five enormous bowls,
as well as countless glades & chutes. Average annual snowfall
is 29 feet.
Fernie
Alpine Resort staff are preparing the mountain for skiers and
riders to enjoy even more of what Fernie has to offer when it
opens on December 10th. They’ve been brush cutting and
grooming runs, creating new steep terrain and clearing way for
even more gladed tree skiing. This season, expect easier access
out of Fernie’s 5 amazing Alpine Bowls, consistently referred
to as some of the best terrain in Canada. Fernie is known for
Steep and Deep, and the recent grooming will improve access
for all abilities making a great experience even better!
Fernie’s
base area village continues to develop and expand, with an excellent
selection of ski-in/ski-out hotels, condos, chalets and lodges
on mountain. Timberline Lodge is a ski-in/ski-out condo which
offers picturesque views of Fernie Mountain and the Elk River.
Riverside Mountain Lodge is located along the Elk River, across
from the ski hill. Perfect for families, Riverside boasts a
166 ft waterslide and huge indoor pool.
Fernie’s
on-mountain facilities include a variety of restaurants, lounges
and bars, including the popular Griz Bar. The charming historical
town of Fernie, just minutes from the base of the ski area,
provides additional dining options, along with shops, museums

I
heard the clinking of glasses the other night as reports of
new snow and season openings drifted in from all the Western
resorts. Blackcomb Mountain has opened a month earlier than
last year, which is great news!! Killington is now open and
the temperatures are staying cool in the Alpine areas of the
East, keeping the snow on the ground that has blessed the slopes
so far...
