Albert
Levis, MD, proprietor of The Wilburton Inn in Manchester, VT,
announces the opening of Teleion Holon, a holistic retreat near
the Inn that combines traditional wellness practices with creative
explorations that helps to fast track holistic well being.
Teleion Holon resident hosts are Oliver Levis, Dr. Levis' son,
who holds an undergraduate degree in agriculture from Cornell,
and Oliver's wife, Bonnie, who holds an advanced degree in education
from Bank Street School. Bonnie is also the resident chef who
specializes in organic vegetarian cuisine.
Guests
lodge in a recently refurbished Tudor manor offering 10 guest
rooms, each with private bath (some with Jacuzzi), a multi-use
ballroom / fitness studio, a spacious living room, classrooms
and a teaching kitchen. Oliver and Bonnie are developing a self-sufficient
farmstead as part of Teleion Holon?s holistic identity with
chickens, cows and a one acre vegetable garden on site.
On-premise
organic gardens provide fresh vegetables and herbs for homegrown
vegetarian communal meals. Dairy products come from organically
raised cows and free-range chickens provide organic eggs.
In
this peaceful setting in Vermont's mountains, guests partake
of healing treatments and activities over 1 to 6-night retreats,
with ample time scheduled for solitude, walks, journaling and
discussion.
While
body and spirit are commonly addressed at holistic retreats,
the mind is often neglected, says Dr. Levis, who holds a doctoral
degree in psychiatry from Yale and who maintained a practice
in Hamden, CT, for 35 years. He notes that Teleion Holon is
Greek for perfect universe.
The
retreat focuses on empowerment by applying insights of classical
art and mythology and personal creativity.
A
typical day begins with Bonnie's breakfasts including homemade
granola. The day's program includes classes in tai chi, yoga
and cooking, with opportunities for massage. Dr. Levis offers
workshops in creativity and self-exploration that include tours
of a garden of sculpture acquired and arranged by Dr. Levis
to emphasize a history of love.
The
nightly rate inclusive of accommodation, breakfast and morning
yoga is from $100 double occupancy. Additional meals and fees
for special programming are extra. Upcoming programs include
such topics as holistic health, nutritional cooking and introducing
children to healthy eating through their own series of classes.
Teleion
Holon will also be available to practitioners who wish to bring
their own clients into these pastoral settings. Please contact
Oliver Levis for details.
